The Story

This 1970 Datsun 240Z — possibly a genuine Fairlady chassis — was pulled from a field as a rusted-out shell with faded paint and a dream attached to it. Five years later, every single inch has been stripped, cut, welded, fabbed, painted, coated, and assembled by hand.

Under the hood sits a turbo LS V8 with a 76mm turbo, built with Wiseco rods and pistons, ARP studs, a high-performance oil pump, and dual valve springs — managed by a Holley Terminator X fuel injection system and displayed on a 12-inch Holley digital dash. Power goes through a 4-inch driveshaft to an 8.8 IRS rear end built by Invincible Extreme in California — rated for 1,500+ horsepower.

The factory cooling is gone. A monster radiator with dual fans and a shroud pushing massive CFM sits in the trunk, fed by -16AN radiator lines running the full length of the car, pushed by a Jegs Performance electric water pump. The trunk also houses the fuel cell — everything critical relocated to the rear for weight distribution.

Out back, Baer Pro 6” rear brakes with slotted rotors. Up front, 12” Brembo rotors. The suspension rides on BC coilovers — cut and re-welded to fit the Z chassis. The custom exhaust was hand-welded and cerakoted. Electrical is handled by a JS Alternators massive-amp alternator in gloss black.

Every single suspension component, bracket, and the full multi-point roll cage have been cerakoted in bronze — air-cured C-series on the cylinder heads to avoid tearing down the top end, oven-cured on everything else. Full Siless sound deadening on every interior surface.

And because it's not just a track car — the interior has a custom audio system: four 6-inch Pro Audio speakers, four 2-inch Ground Zero tweeters, and a custom-built box behind the seats housing two 8-inch subs. This thing sounds as good as it drives.

No shortcuts. No compromises. No timeline. Just the right way.

Build Timeline

2021 — Acquisition

Found the 240Z — rusted, faded, forgotten. But the bones were there. Possibly a genuine Fairlady Z chassis.

2021–2022 — Strip & Metalwork

Stripped to bare shell. Cut out all rust, welded in new metal, straightened the body. Hours of blocking by hand.

2023 — Paint & Cage

Interior tub sprayed gloss black. Body laid in satin black. Full multi-point roll cage fabricated and welded in. Cerakoted bronze.

2024 — Drivetrain

LS V8 built and dropped in with a 76mm single turbo. Ford 8.8 IRS Super rear end with custom axles and hubs. Brembo 12" fronts with slotted rotors, Baer Pro 6" rears. Holley Terminator X ECU wired in.

2025 — Systems & Detail

Full custom engine harness routed and terminated. Trunk-mounted fuel cell installed. Radiator and electric fans relocated to the trunk — -10AN feed and -8AN return lines running front to back, pushed by a Texas Speed electric water pump. 12-inch Holley digital dash mounted. Custom exhaust hand-welded and cerakoted. Siless sound deadening laid on every surface. Every bracket, suspension arm, and the full cage cerakoted in bronze.

2026 — Final Assembly

Air-curing C-series cerakote on the cylinder heads (kept them assembled). Fitting the last AN coolant lines. Powder coating final pieces. Approaching first start.
